SPACE CLIMATE: Direct and Indirect Observations of Long-Term Solar Activity

CONFERENCE SITE

 The Symposium will take place at the Holiday Club hotel EDEN. This is a modern hotel at the seaside of the Gulf of Bothnia of the Baltic Sea which offers an excellent health spa facility with a variety of different kinds of saunas. The neighboring beach of Nallikari is the Riviera of the North for tens of thousands of tourists mainly from northern Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia.
The Symposium site is located on a nice green island about 2.5 km from the downtown, and is connected to the city by a scenic walking/bicycle route through small islands, and by a regular bus line. There are a number of walking/bicycle routes around the conference site and more all over the city; the city of Oulu has one of the very best walking/bicycle networks in all the world.

The conference site provides accommodation at a wide variety of levels only within 5 min walking distance: from the superior rooms at hotel EDEN, through the mid-price comfortable POHTO rooms to the convenient camping cottages to the modest camping cabins for 1-4 persons.

Conference hall

The conference hall is located at the 5th floor with a large open sea-side looking terrace where coffee-breaks will be served.

The hall will be equipped with a data projector (beamer) and an overhead (If you need other equipment, please contact LOC well beforehand).
There will be a computer room where 5 PCs with internet connections will be available during the Symposium. One b/w printer will be connected to a PC. A copying machine is located in the hotel lobby and should be paid per page.

There will be one laptop PC allocated to the presentations using MS Power Point, Open Office or Adobe Acrobat formats.
The use of your own PC for presentation is not allowed. Electronic files should be copied to the dedicated PC before a sessions starts (preferably during the registration) using CD or flash memory sticks (will be available). Please ask LOC members at the site for assitance.
If you want Internet connection for your own PC, a prepaid card can be bought in the hotel lobby (21 Euro per day, your PC should be equipped with WLAN).
